$7000 Fine for Truck Driver over Heavy Loads

A truck driver will have to fork out $7000 after he was found carrying a load that didn’t comply with mass requirements as legally outlined.

The 54 year old truck driver appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court recently on 4 counts of failing to comply with mass requirements and pleaded guilty to all charges.

The driver’s defence lawyer said he had been pressured to carry the illegal load by his employer.The man had appeared in court 2 previous times for carrying illegal loads for which his previous employers had paid the financial penalties.

The defence lawyer said the driver ‘s time on the road explained the 2 previous charges.
