ATA’s TruckSafe Animal Welfare Component TruckCare, Gets a Name Change

The ATA has changed the name of it’s TruckSafe animal welfare component, from TruckCare to the Animal Welfare Module.

TruckSafe National Manager Justin Fleming, explained that this is to better suit the overall focus of the module.

The module is a quality and safety management system for companies that transport livestock, whether big or small.

Mr Fleming said accreditation by operators reflects their commitment to industry best practice and their clients.

The Animal Welfare Module as it will now be known, is the voluntary 6th step in the process of gaining full TruckSafe accreditation. They first 5 standards include management, maintenance, training, on-road compliance and fitness for duty & driver health.

Mr Fleming went on to say that operators who have Animal Welfare accreditation will have to abide by strict conditions for animal transportation.
