According to police, they were called to Toorak Road, Camberwell around 3:30am after receiving reports of a felled power pole.

When police arrived on the scene they discovered the toppled pole and several destroyed rubbish bins.

A large, damaged truck was discovered down the road.

The truck driver was tested at a local police station and returned a positive reading for drugs. The 44 year old driver was arrested and is expected to be charged with drug driving and other driving offences.

The incident left traffic in the area in chaos, with delays in both directions at Highfield Road.

The falling power pole also caused outages with crews working to restore electricity.

Safe driving necessitates drivers have good judgement and sharp concentration however drug driving makes it difficult for drivers to respond quickly on the road, thereby putting other road-users and themselves at risk.  Find out more https://www.9news.com.au/national/2018/06/25/10/33/drug-affected-truck-driver-camberwell-toorak-road-melbourne
