In the lead-up to Easter, law enforcement officers will be targeting heavy vehicle driver fatigue.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Queensland Police have been focusing on fatigue with the NHVR launching the ‘Focus on Fatigue’ campaign for drivers before the Easter period when roads are usually busier.

Queensland Police reported a fatigue-management compliance operation was held in a remote region of the state.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said fatigue would be the major focus for heavy vehicle operators particularly in the lead-up to the Easter period.

The NHVR is using online messages and videos of drivers sharing personal experiences and advice to motivate drivers to avoid the risks of fatigued driving.
