Heavy Vehicles Part of Road Safety Survey

The national survey of Community Attitudes to Road Safety 2017 was recently announced by Federal infrastructure and transport minister Darren Chester.

This is the 24th year of the survey but it is the first time it will address issues of sharing the road with heavy vehicles and drug-impaired driving. The survey dates back to 1986, with the aim of helping improve road safety policies.

Mr Chester said previous surveys had revealed that people commonly identify speed, inattention, drink driving, driver distraction and fatigue as the major factors involved with road crashes.
