Chain of Responsibility Online

A recent conference was held in Melbourne, following 2 others in Sydney and Brisbane, highlighting the impact of the changes to the Chain of Responsibility laws and what is required to be compliant.

The Melbourne seminar, organised by Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) in association with the Freight and Trade Alliance (FTA), Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) and ICHCA Australia, was attended by 150 industry professionals, importers, exporters, freight forwarders and transport operators.

The panel led attendees through the changes and how they will increase the responsibility on business owners and managers in the supply chain, highlighting that there are a lot of changes to be made to ensure compliance.

More than 700 enforcement officers and inspectors are working to ensure the laws are consistently applied.

Changes to chain of responsibility laws will come into effect in mid-2018, to make them align more closely with workplace health and safety laws.
