Recent footage posted on Facebook of a truck driver overtaking a road-train near Port Augusta has set off a major debate about the 90km/h road train speed limits in the area.

The dash cam footage shows the driver of the car being forced to drive on the shoulder of the road as the truck overtook the road train.

The truck driver has since been stood down but the speed limit has been brought into question.

The video, which was viewed more than 80,000 times and shared more than 1000 times since it was posted, also caught the attention of the South Australian Road Transport Association (SARTA) whose executive officer Steve Shearer called for an investigation.

He said the footage was a reminder of a wider issue within the Port Augusta region.
