The NHVR’s National Roadworthiness Baseline Survey (NRBS) is well underway and inspections are about to begin in The Northern Territory and Western Australia.
The inspections in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania have already been completed.
Executive director for productivity and safety Geoff Casey said the survey was crucial to the regulator and operators and that is why the industry has been so supportive of the survey.
He said many operators were proactively requesting inspectors visit them and inspect vehicles, showing that they understand the importance of the survey.
The survey is expected to provide much needed data to the industry to improve safety.
