Police were recently alerted to a truck driving erratically by another truck driver. When stopped, police discovered the truckie driving dangerously and under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The concerned driver had given police the location of the erratic driver until they were able to spot the vehicle on the Hume Highway.
Police caught up with the truck and pulled it over. Police found a 4 year old girl asleep in the bunk of the truck.
Some of the dangerous driving demonstrated by the driver included veering left off the road, narrowly missing the wire rope barriers, veering sharply to the right, crossing 2 lanes as well as entering the centre median strip.
Police said a breath test proved him negative for alcohol and he was arrested for a blood and urine sample. Police searched the vehicle for drugs and found a crack pipe and 0.4 grams of ice in a plastic bag.
The mother of the sleep child was called to pick up the girl and a report was also submitted to DCOS in relation to the child at risk.
