Adelaide Rock Throwing

Following complaints from truck drivers in South Australia Police launched Operation Watercolour, targeting rock throwers who hurl rocks at trucks.

SAPOL’s operation is focusing on prevention of further incidents and identifying suspects linked to events reported to police.

The operation is being coordinated by Assistant commissioner Paul Dickson, making sure a formal approach is taken in the finding and catching the perpetrators.

Dickson highlighted that these incidents were appalling and extremely dangerous, thankfully there have been no serious injuries thus far.

The operation will include using resources such as general patrols, bicycle patrols, mounted and dog operations and police helicopter.

Those caught throwing stones at vehicles will be prosecuted and face offences that carry a term of imprisonment of up to 18 years, Dickson said.
