A 21 year old soldier has been charged with the death of a colleague after the truck he was driving underwent a rollover during a training exercise at Sydney’s Holsworthy Barracks.

The accident happened last October and because of it, Alexander Gall has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and six counts of dangerous driving resulting in a crash which killed his fellow soldier Jordan Penpraze.

According to police the young soldier was driving a troop carrier when it crashed into a tree during a training exercise. There were apparently 3 people in the truck’s cabin at the time and 15 troops were in the back of the truck. The 15 soldiers in the back were thrown out of the truck when it crashed.

All the workers in the back of the truck were injured in some way and taken to hospital for treatment. One of the soldiers, Penpraze who also just 21 years old, sustained critical injuries to his head and died in hospital a few days later.

The accused faced the Downing Centre local court recently where the matter was adjourned until November.
