A truck driver has been fined after police discovered he had tampered with his vehicle’s speed limiter.

The truck was recently stopped on Forrester Road, St Marys by police who then discovered that the vehicle could reach speeds of 159km/h – the maximum speed legally allowed for a truck of that size in NSW is 100km/h.

The 29 year old male driver was fined and the vehicle defected.

Following a truck crash on the M1 which resulted in a traffic jam several hours long, officers attached to the Joint Traffic Task Force were conducting heavy vehicle searchers when they came across the vehicle.
