Fatigue is a hot topic among the road transport industry because it is often blamed for so many road incidents and drivers are often singled out for driving while fatigued, but a new study shows that it may have some other triggers, other than just driving for too long.
The UK based study found that chronic fatigue syndrome may actually be triggered by an overactive immune system, it is believed this may be how myalgic encephalomyelitis or ME begins.
The study conducted by lead researcher Carmine Pariante, professor of biological psychiatry at King’s College London, examined many cases of chronic fatigue where patients remember an infection such as a bad cold or viral infection, in the early stages of developing the condition.
