Truck Crash Results in Compliance Raid

Following 2 major crashes in a couple of days near the Berrima region, a NSW Joint Traffic Taskforce recently concluded a trucking company compliance inspection.

The truck ran through the Hume Highway Freeway median strip and collided with an ute.

Although police did not identify the company involved in the latest crash, it did prompt the operation which was conducted by police and Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) inspectors.

During the operation 21 trucks and trailers were inspected.

The major issues identified by officers related to storage, handling and fatigue management records.

Authorities said the operation should serve as a reminder to trucking companies that major crashes will be responded to by police who will assess trucks, books and processes thoroughly.  For more go to https://www.fullyloaded.com.au/industry-news/1710/compliance-raid-follows-fatal-berrima-crash
