Truck Crash Statistics Show Mixed Results

According to the latest figures from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE), there are mixed results regarding the number of fatal crashes involving heavy vehicles.

While the number of fatal crashes involving heavy rigid trucks has decreased, there has been a rise n the number of crashes involving articulated trucks.

The number of fatal crashes involving heavy rigid trucks has declined nearly 14 per cent as compared with a previous corresponding period.

The bad news is that the number of articulated truck crashes that ended fatally have increased by 6,7 per cent.

According to BITRE’s figures there have been 11 deaths involving articulated truck crashes and 79 deaths from crashes involving heavy rigid trucks.
