Remember the crash on Stoney Creek Road at Bexley in January 2017 which claimed the life a mother of six? She was run over by a truck as she walked off a footpath and stood next to a parked 4 wheel drive vehicle. The truck driver involved is currently on trial and has denied driving dangerously.

The jury were recently played an almost hour-long police interview with the truck driver.

The court has heard that the truck driver drifted out of his lane for about 4 seconds, which was all it took to hit the 51 year old victim.

While the driver said he swerved to avoid something coming towards him, CCTV footage didn’t show any vehicle coming towards him. The driver also denied seeing the woman at all until he had already hit her.

The case is continuing.
