An Adelaide trucking boss failed to have his jail time reduced over the death of one of his drivers in 2014.
The 45 year old truck driver, Robert Brimson died because his employer failed to repair the faulty brakes on the vehicle. The operator was found guilty of manslaughter last October for failure to maintain the heavy vehicle.
The driver died when his truck failed to break, slamming into a pole as he tried to veer away from other motorists.
The operator was jailed for 10 years and six months and will be eligible for parole after 7 years.
After appealing against the sentence, claiming it was unfairly heavy and did not take his ailing health into account, the Court of Criminal Appeal last week dismissed the application with 3 judges agreeing that the sentence was fair.
