TWU Calls for Understanding That Truckies Aren’t Always to Blame for Crashes

The Transport Workers Union (TWU) has called for understanding that truck drivers aren’t always the ones to blame for crashes.

SafeWork recently released data that showed that transport and warehousing are at the top of the list of industries with the most fatalities and in a recent post on Fullyloaded.com.au, the writer questioned why industry associations weren’t more focused on safety.

The writer reminded us of the landmark 12 year study by Monash University, conducted in partnership with the TWU which found that truck driving is the most dangerous job in Australia.

Researchers also found that  truck drivers had a 13times higher risk of dying at work than other Australian workers and a higher risk of illness, psychological stress and other injuries.
