Victoria has promised to crack down on over-sized and over-weight vehicles following a hefty fine handed down to one company near the Port of Melbourne.
The company received one of the heaviest fines handed down in recent years with the state’s transport authority issuing a statement last month about the prosecution which happened in late 2017.
The company’s vehicle was over-height and over-weight. The state has now promised to crack down on oversized and over-weight vehicles as it did on the company who were fined $90,000 by the Melbourne Magistrates.
VicRoads manager of transport safety services Russell Greenland said the breaches were a danger to other drivers.
