A tragic workplace accident has taken place at a transport yard in Chinchilla earlier this week, claiming the life of a man in his thirties.
Police said the death was still under investigation by workplace health and safety officers but it is believed the man was unloading a large pipe using a forklift when the load fell and hit him. He died on the scene.
This incident is a heart wrenching reminder of the importance of the Chain of Responsibility and the need for every member of the supply chain to do their part to ensure incidents like this do not occur.
The chain of responsibility aims to ensure everyone in the supply chain shares responsibility for their actions if they have control or influence over a transport task, such as packing a load. Under CoR laws consignees, consignors, drivers, loaders, unloaders, schedulers, loading managers, employers, company directors, corporations, partnerships, unincorporated associations or other bodies corporate can be held liable for breaches of the law.
