A transport company has been accused of fatigue related offences by a former employee who brought a suit of $690,000 against the large firm.

The employee filed for damages against the company in the Cairns District Court for health issues including injuries and depression.

The employee is seeking medical expenses,  compensation for the loss of past and future income, interest and superannuation for breach of contract and negligence.

The company’s owner apparently encouraged drivers to breach fatigue regulations and drive for up to 14 hours a day.
